One-day consultative workshop on child rights under the theme, “Ensuring safety of the children in the virtual spaces: The critical questions” was organised by Development Association of Nagaland (DAN) on March 31 at DAN Training Centre, Dimapur.
A press release by DAN informed that while delivering the keynote address, state information commissioner, Nosazol Charles stated that children of today were the future adults who would lead and guide the progress of the human race. Therefore, he said it was crucial to protect, guide, educate and to continuously improve the children’s lives and opportunities for the children in every field. He mentioned that information technology has permeated almost all aspects of human life and today’s children have better knowledge and access to the digital technology.
Whereas the technological growth has opened several opportunities for the children, Charles said it was also teeming with several dangers. Therefore, he urged that adults and educators to enhance their awareness and knowledge to ensure that the children utilize the technology for their benefit and do not fall prey to the many dangers that are posed by them.
