DC Longleng notifies village councils, wards

Pertaining to the protection of Amur Falcon, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Longleng has informed all the village council chairmen and ward presidents under the Longleng district that trapping, killing and selling of Amur Falcon was a criminal offense under the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972. According to a DIPR report, DC Longleng said the offence was punishable with three years rigorous imprisonment or a fine of Rs. 25,000 or both under section 51 of the Wildlife Protection Act, 1972.
In this regard, all village council chairmen and ward presidents have been directed to take up the matter as a top priority and to monitor and give strict instructions within their respective jurisdiction.
