DC Wokha bats for tobacco-free zone in all educational institutions by Jan 2023

Wokha District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) and Pungro Sub Divisional Planning and Development Board (SDPDB) monthly meetings were held by the respective administrations.
Wokha DPDB monthly meeting was held Wednesday at the Conference Hall of Deputy Commissioner (DC) Wokha, chaired by DC and vice chairman DPDB Wokha Kumar Ranjan. The meeting was also attended by advisor Law & Justice and chairman DPDB Wokha, Dr. Chumben Murry.
According to a DIPR report, during the meeting, Sr. Dental Surgeon and District Nodal Officer of the National Tobacco Control Programme (NTCP) Dr. Daisy gave a presentation on the implementation of Tobacco-free educational institution guidelines in Wokha district.
She said that out of 189 educational institutions in Wokha district, the COTPA team under NTCP has covered 67 educational institutions in spreading awareness and sensitising about the harmful and ill effect on the use of tobacco products.
Reacting to the action plan, DC Wokha reminded the school education department NTCP team to give more effort to achieve the target of making tobacco-free zone in all educational institutions by January 31, 2023.
Chief Medical Officer Wokha also presented activities undertaken to eliminate and eradicate TB and malaria in the district.
The proposal for up gradation of Government High School (GHS) to Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS), Wokha village was approved and recommended by the board.
While approving and recommending the proposal for registration of Rifle Association Wokha, Dr. Chumben Murry reminded the association members that shooting should be an art and should be purely on sports activity and not for hunting purpose as hunting was banned all over the State.
Dr. Chumben also launched of Mobile Veterinary Unit (MVU) after the meeting. MVU is a component of establishing and strengthening veterinary hospitals and dispensaries sponsored by the government of India, ministry of fisheries, animal husbandry, and dairying to the states on 100% Central Assistance under the Livestock Health & Disease control programme with the main objective to increase the accessibility of veterinary services to the farmers at doorstep.
Pungro: Pungro SDPDB monthly meeting was held on November 15 at the Additional Deputy Commissioner (ADC) Pungro office, informed a DIPR report.
During the meeting, ADC and vice chairman Pungro SDPDB, Mhomo Thungoe called upon all government employees to be in their place of posting. Public organisation and VG Parade Commander were asked to share their grievances. Repair of roads were also deliberated in the meeting. At the meeting, a power point presentation was given by agriculture department.
