Concerned over the menace of price rise and rampant taxation in Zunheboto district, the deputy commissioner Zunheboto Akato Sema convened an emergency coordination meet with the Zunheboto Town Council (ZTC), Town GBs Association, Sumi Totomi Hoho, Zunheboto Chamber of Commerce and Industries (ZCCI) and Steering Committee Against Price Rise and Unabated Taxation (SCAPRUT) along with the SP Zunheboto T Chumren and SDO (C) Kikumsangla at his official chamber September 4.
DC, who chaired the meeting, lauded the SCAPRUT (committee with two representatives from all the NGOs, Hohos, business community, student bodies, CCF, Women Hoho etc) for coming under one banner to curb various anti social elements which have deep rooted in the district. SCAPRUT submitted a representation and “price index” to the DC and further the house unanimously approved the “price index” that was fixed by SCARPUT.
DC assured fullest support to the SCAPRUT and further gave financial assistance for the cause. SCAPRUT co-convenor Katovi Awomi highlighted the plight of the prevalent crisis in Zunheboto market and anomalies.
ZTC representatives also highlighted various grievances and revealed that the “grand in aid” has been deprived for three years. SP Zunheboto T. Chumren also spoke on the sanitation, gave some tips for its improvement and advised the ZTC to streamline the generation of income.
He also assured cooperation and to extend every possible help for the welfare, safety and well being of the general public.
The sale of dead meat, use of traditional weighing scale etc were also deliberated and agreed to initiate strict measures against the defaulters.
NGOs and civil bodies also disclosed that they would hold protest rally if anti social elements continued to monopolize and threaten Zunheboto business community or obstruct the smooth functioning of market.
