DCPU Kohima celebrates Children’s Day with CCI


District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Kohima celebrated Children’s Day with the children of Child Care Institutions (CCI) Kohima Tuesday at Highland Park, Kohima.
Exhorting the children as special guest, Deputy Commissioner (DC) Kohima, Shanavas C encouraged the young minds to strive forward and reminded them that there was no short cut to success nor substitute to hard work.
Sharing the life story of former President of India, APJ Abdul Kalam and President of America, Abraham Lincoln, Shanavas said both these leaders had humble childhood but with sheer determination, hard work and perseverance ended up holding the highest office in their respective countries.
In a welcome address, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), Kohima, Sekho Dawhuo said the celebration was preponed as children would be appearing examinations on November 14, the Children’s Day.
The programme was chaired by PO (IC) Vepotolu Ringa; prayer was offered by house mother of Observation Home Kohima, Vili Kesiyie and special songs were presented by Avito, children and staff of Kohima Orphanage and Destitute Home, Kevi Children’s Home, Bright Morning Star.
