DIMAPUR: Ahghunato Town Student Union (ATSU) has urged upon the department of School Education (DoSE) to deploy teachers at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Aghunato.
In a press release, ATSU president HekaviYeptho stated the GHSS was “the only functioning government school for Eastern Sumi tribe” and with shortage of teachers, the student community was facing difficulties.
ATSU president also stated that in between 2016-2019, nine teachers were retired, however, no new appointments have been made.
While the school is already facing difficulties, two teachers were being transferred, which is creating further constraint for the students, ATSU stated.
The union has, therefore sought for early intervention to make appointments of the vacant post and for “retainment of teachers in their respective posting”.
