Depute SDO (C) to Phomching HQ: PASU

Phomching Area Students’ Union (PASU) has appealed to the state government to immediately depute SDO (Civil) to Phomching Headquarters, failing which the government would be held solely responsible for any untoward incidents.
In a press release, PASU president Wanggok Konyak and general secretary L Wangjam expressed dismay that Phomching Headquarters, established in the year 1969, had been functioning without SDO (C) for over two and a half years.
According to the union, the Commissioner, Nagaland was intimated through a formal letter dated May 2, 2022 that the general public was facing grievances in the absence of the SDO (C).
However, PASU said they have received no positive response till date.
Accusing the state government of being adamant and lackadaisical, the union said that the government had initiated transfer and posting of administrative officers on many occasions, but failed to deploy the same at Phomching Headquarters.
The union reminded that Phornching Headquarters, which was located along Indo-Myanmar international border and sharing inter-state border with Arunachal Pradesh, cannot be simply ignored, adding that the “law and order situation” could arise at any point.
Further, PASU said the general public was facing untold hardship in the absence of SDO (C) especially while carrying out office related work.
In the light of the above, the union has reiterated appeal to the government to immediately intervene and initiate measures to deploy full-time SDO (C) at Phomching Headquarters.
