As part of its efforts to bolster policing through progressive adoption of technology, Commissionerate of Police (CoP), Dimapur launched e-Police mobile app in collaboration with Excellogics Tech Solutions Pvt Ltd (ETSPL), a Kohima-based IT firm, at the commissionerate here on Tuesday.
Addressing the media on the occasion, director general of police (DGP) Rupin Sharma acknowledged and congratulated CoP and ETSPL for coming up with the innovative idea, pointing out that it was a first-of-its-kind app in the State.
He termed the launch of the app as the beginning of digitisation of storing records systematically for the police.
He said that though the app was currently available only for Dimapur Police, it would be later implemented in other districts if the app performed well.
He also hoped that features in the app would be upgraded to allow public to participate for transparency in policing.
ETSPL CEO Tiarenla Jamir gave a brief presentation on the app and disclosed that e-Police was a record management system that had been envisaged to help the police in maintaining effectively digital records related to cases such as non-FIR, non-bailable warrants, seizures, deposit of arms and arrests.
He claimed that the app would help the police in storing records systematically while generating insightful reports to aid in informed decision making and quick retrieval of records. He pointed out that all these would allow the police to dispose of cases and conduct investigations more efficiently.
With the utilisation of the app, Jamir hoped that Nagaland Police would be able to bolster policing and provide a huge boost to it endeavour to serve the citizens of Nagaland in a better way.
Chümoukedima assistant commissioner of police (ACP) Ninoto I Zhimomi chaired the programme and Dimapur commissioner of police Kevithuto Sophie welcomed the gathering.
