A one-day disaster awareness and mock drill was conducted on March 28, at NEEPCO, Doyang Hydro Power Station (DHPS) for the employees of NEEPCO, VKV School teachers & students, CISF Jawans, LOU DHEP and for the local populace of DHPS township. The mock drill was organized by NEEPCO, Doyang in collaboration with department of Home Guards, Civil Defense and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Wokha.
The purpose of the drill was to simulate a real-life emergency situation and test the readiness and response of the employees, school community and local residents, aimed at improving emergency preparedness and response in the event of an actual emergency. The drill involved various scenarios, including fire, earthquake etc.
During the programme, the district commandant department of Home Guards, Civil Defense and State Disaster Response Force (SDRF), Wokha, Ngongval E Phom spoke on the advantages of conducting regular mock drill exercise and the various preventive measures to be taken before, during and after the earthquake. The coy. commander, Lanutemjen spoke on the mock drill and evacuation plan. Instructor havildar, Mhonyamo Humtsoe, demonstrated various types and usage of fire extinguisher.
Altogether 30 personnel of Home Guards, Civil Defense and SDRF Wokha participated in the mock drill.
The head of the plant, DHPS, NEEPCO Ch. R. John Zeliang thanked the district administration Wokha, department of Home Guards, Civil Defense and SDRF Wokha and all the partakers for their active involvement and mentioned that such drills will continue to conduct regular emergency preparedness drills to ensure that everyone is prepared to respond quickly and effectively in the event of any emergency.
