DLSAs observe National Legal Services Day

District Legal Services Authorities (DLSAs) under the aegis of the Nagaland State Legal Services Authority (NSLSA) observed National Legal Services Day across the state on November 9.
To commemorate the day, Mokokchung DLSA organized a programme at District Bar room with the panel lawyers and para legal volunteers from Fazl Ali College Legal Cell, Mokokchung Law College, Ungma Village Legal cell and front office PLVs and members from E-court and Bar Association. The resource person was lady member, legal metrology and consumer redressal forum, Bendangsenla, who spoke on Consumer Act. Wokha DLSA observed the day by organizing legal awareness at Government High School Longsa Village, Community level, Longsa Village, Legal Literacy Club of Green Valley School, Government Higher Secondary School Wozhuro-Sub division and for Prisoners at District Jail.
Phek DLSA also observed the day, where the members visited the Observation Home and held interaction with staffs from OH and JJB members apart from organizing legal awareness programme. In Longleng, the DLSA observed the day at District Jail Longleng.
The team also held interaction with the staff and inmates. Kohima DLSA observed the day by organizing programme at the District Jail, Kohima. Zunheboto DLSA visited Zunheboto Police Station and Women Police Station Zunheboto led by secretary, Julian Sitlhou along with retainer lawyer, Easter Yepthomi and panel lawyer, Inolito Sumi. During the visit, the secretary briefed on the law of arrest, benefits of Legal Services, and the rights of the arrested persons and how to avail legal aid at the stage of pre-arrest, arrest and remand stage.
