One day awareness programme on “fortified rice” was conducted by the Department of Food & Civil Supplies (DoF&CS) Longleng district, on August 10 at the VCC and VDB Conference Hall.
According to a DIPR report, during a session on rice fortification, State Technical Officer (Nagaland) from PATH, Shan Ezung explained the significance of fortified rice and its micronutrient content, including Iron, Vitamins B12, and Folic Acid.
Ezung clarified that fortified rice was not plastic rice but rice kernels blended with micronutrients to combat malnutrition and anemia. He also highlighted that various fortified items are distributed through food safety networks.
Around 200 attendees including fair price shop owners, ward chairpersons, village chairpersons, GBs, civil societies, and beneficiaries attended the programme.
