DRAN deserve award not humiliation: NPCC

Nagaland Pradesh Congress Committee (NPCC) president K. Therie maintained that the striking Department Recruited Aggrieved Nurses (DRAN), demanding service regularisation and pending salary, deserved appreciation and award and not humiliation.
NPCC president K Therie, in a release said the “world was looking” at the “merciless attitude” of the state government and that such act “from a people’s government is shameful.” He said the “decision to throw them out is outrage.”
He said permanent posts were created, advertisements made, zoom interviews conducted and appointments given online without giving a chance to the nurses to react.
Therie said that nurses were deployed in the Covid hospitals at the height of the pandemic but “this heartless” government decided to throw them out after the pandemic.
He said the nurses were appointed against posts created in an emergency time of need and therefore there was no question of doubting their skill or capability after having used their services at the most difficult of times.
Therie said the DRAN did not only respond to society’s need, but also proved their valour by sacrificing themselves at the covid frontline. “Nagaland was most successful in taking care of Covid-19 patients. This success belongs especially to nurses, doctors and medical staff,” NPCC chief said.
