Dimapur Süngratsu Senso Telongem (DSST), celebrated Moatsü festival, under the theme “Asen Sobaliba Wazuka Yudi” “Lets Preserve Our Culture”, at DSST treasure residence, Khermahal on Tuesday.
On the occassion, Er. J. Sashi Longchar in his exhortation on essence of ‘Moatsü’, thanked God for blessing the Ao community with rich cultural heritage. He said in every kind of festivals, the ancestors thanked God and seek blessings, for which God bestowed unconditional blessings on them.
He mentioned that the ancestors during their time, dedicated their whole life on farming with full dedication, faith and hope, sowing every kind of rich crops with careful planning, and the reward they reaped during the harvesting season were embraced with thanksgiving prayer, folk songs, folk dance, merrymaking, etc with the villagers wholeheartedly, which they observed and celebrate as ‘Moatsu’. He further encouraged the gatherings to uphold the essence of Moatsü.
DSST president Lanuzülu Aier welcomed the gatherings and said the programme was organized by DSST and Dimapur Süngratsü Pongentenem Culture Club (DSPTCC), particularly focused on the younger generation to make them aware of the cultural heritage for social transformation.
Earlier, the programme was chaired by Chubanüksüng Longchar and Amenti Ozüküm, invocation by asso. pastor Padampukhuri Ao Baptist Church Chubatemjen Ozüküm, greetings by N. Chiten Jamir, short speech on jubilee nükrang by DSPTCC Lipokkumba Jamir and vote of thanks by DSPTCC president Sademkokba Aier.
Highlights of the programme included traditional song (Alu-Zünga) by group of women DSPTCC, folk dance by Dimapur Süngratsü Lanu Zünga, traditional song (Kimak) by DSPTCC, traditional song (Azüto) by Medemsanger puto ait menden and power point presentation on Züngaren sobaliba.
