Educational institutions hold various programmes

Educational institutions and other organisations conducted various programmes and activities for the students as part of their yearly curriculum and extracurricular activities.
SSPN: Sainik School Punglwa, Nagaland (SSPN) local board of administration (LBA) meeting was held on November 17 under the chairmanship of, Chief of Staff HQ 3 Corps, Maj Gen Sumit Talwar, who is also the new chairman of SSPN. A press release by SSPN stated that the meeting elaborated major aspects pertaining to the progress on development of the school infrastructure while SSPN principal, Gp Capt RK Yadav briefed the members on various achievements of the school. In his concluding remarks, Maj Gen Talwar expressed his whole hearted support for the improvement of the school. He thanked officials of government of Nagaland and other members for their continued cooperation. The annual school magazine, “Vibrant Strings” was also released by the chairman.
The meeting was attended by deputy director and nodal officer, directorate of education, Khriesano Nagi; executive engineer, PWD (Housing) education division, Er. Hukato Zhimomi; head of veterinary and animal husbandry, Dr. Arun Kumar Sangwan; Principal, Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya, K Kapfo; parents representative, Elu Ndang; garrison engineer, 868 EW, Maj Ravi Tomar; vice principal, Lt Col Leena Baja and administrative officer, Lt Cdr T Khongsai.
SPC: Shalom Public School, Chumoukedima celebrated Children’s Day-cum-Cultural Day on November 14, wherein cultural performances were displayed by the students. Other highlights of the programme included Bible recitation in own dialects, a performance on the legend of Jina and Etiben.
Indian Navy: As part of the outreach programme, Indian Navy held an interaction with school children on November 16 at Dimapur. PRO (Defence) said Indian Navy in association with the state education department organised motivational lectures on “Career in the Indian Navy” for school children. During the programme, commander KP Ajesh from the directorate of naval education, naval headquarters interacted with over 750 students at Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Dimapur, GHSS Purana Bazar and Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School. The students were briefed about various career opportunities in the Navy and were motivated to join the naval service. A video on training at the Indian Naval Academy was also screened during the interaction.
KLCEU: Kohima Law College Evangelical Union (KLCEU) celebrated Advent Christmas on November 17. During the celebration, the season greetings was delivered by college principal, Soni Tep and the welcome song was presented by KLCEU Executive while assistant professor Kezhokhoto Savi delivered the Christmas message.
DCPU Kiphire: District Child Protection Unit (DCPU) Kiphire organised Children’s Day programme at Government Primary School (GPS) Longthonger, Government Middle School (GMS) Sanphure and Shalom Children Home, Kiphire, on November 14-20
A press release by DCPU Kiphire informed that the programme was organised in collaboration with Childline 1098 Kiphire as part of the “Child Rights Week” celebration. During the programme, District Child Protection Officer (DCPO), N.S. Kahikho elaborated on the four basic rights of child i.e., right to survival, right to development, right to participation and right to protection.
Kahikho also encouraged the students to start thinking about making positive contributions towards the community and society. Childline Kiphire, coordination, Levi T Aomi highlighted the various problems and issued faced by the children in the district and encouraged the community to approach appropriate authority for child related cases. Piramal Foundation, Gandhi Fellow, Asmita Barman also spoke on the importance of community engagement of child education.
