ENSF reacts to NIDA’s statement

Eastern Naga Students’ Federation (ENSF) has expressed dismay at the statement of Nagaland In-service Doctors’ Association (NIDA) vis-à-vis the former’s stand on the issue of increasing the superannuation age of doctors.
In a press release, ENSF president Chingmak Chang and assistant general secretary Kaibo Konyak termed NIDA’s statement “unauthorised” as it was its prerogative to take a stand on issues and issue statements to the media, while condemning NIDA’s “irrational act”.
Acknowledging the demand put forth by NIDA regarding superannuation age of doctors, ENSF clarified that it had taken stand that if there was a shortage of doctors to deliver health services, the State government could consider reappointment of retired doctors for a period of two years for hospitals, but not for administrative posts.
Having taken the stand, the federation claimed that it had also appealed to the State government to urgently carry out appointment of doctors through Nagaland Public Service Commission to fill the existing vacancies and also to speed up functioning of the medical colleges at Kohima and Mon so as to enable more Nagas to become doctors at the earliest.
