Deputy Commissioner and District Magistrate of Mokokchung, Shashank Pratap Singh has directed Riongsanger Putu Menden //Village Council and Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang to ensure peaceful electioneering process be conducted in 24 Angetyongpang A/C, particularly in Mongsenyimti village.
DC issued the directive as both the village councils have accepted the verdict of the High Court order dated January 31, 2023 and the same has been followed in letter and spirit.
In this connection, DC directed Riongsanger Putu Menden/Village Council and Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang to immediately refrain from open indulgence in politics by supporting or opposing any candidate failing which necessary action will be initiated as per law. It may be noted that as directed by the Gauhati High Court, Kohima bench dated 31-01-2023, both the Riongsanger Putu Menden/Village Council; and Mongsenyimti Senso Mungdang were summoned by district magistrate on February 7, 2023.
The two organizations appeared before the court and February 10, 2023 and on consideration of their written submission, it has been observed that they have in their volition categorically stated that, they have accepted the verdict of the High Court’s order dated 31-01-2023, and the same has being followed in letter and spirit.
