According to a DIPR report, ADC Zunheboto, Moakumzuk Tzudir, while speaking during the programme, lauded agriculture production commissioner (APC), Y. Kikheto Sema, under whose initiative the project was materialised.
He said in Zunheboto, there were less chances of fish production and the only alternate option was riverine fisheries.
In this regard, he urged upon the public of Zunheboto to do away with using of bleaching powders, generators or batteries which would lead to extinction of aquatic species.
In his address, Sumi Kukami Hoho president, Kashito Yepthomi said all these developmental activities were being possible because there were people behind it.
He acknowledged the efforts of minister for Agriculture, Kaito Aye and APC Kikheto Sema. Kashito further called on GBs of surrounding villages to enforce strict laws to curb the malpractices.
Sumi Hoho president, I Nikheto Jimomi asserted that no matter how much efforts someone made, if the public did not look after such initiatives well, it was as useless as putting precious ornaments on pig’s neck.
He recalled how in the early days, people could catch fishes bare hand because they were available but the aquatic species diminished because they have become enemy to them.
The programme was chaired by NDPP Zunheboto region president, Khehoshe H. Yepthomi, who also read the opening remarks, deputy DAO Zunheboto briefed on FOCUS-IFAD project and vote of thanks was proposed by ZCCI president and ZAPO advisor Kikheto Muru.
