A district level farmers-scientist interaction programme was organised by the Agricultural Technology Management Agency (ATMA) Mon on March 28 at the Conference Hall of District Agricultural Officer (DAO) Mon office.
A press release by ATMA Mon informed that project director ATMA and DAO Mon, Kenesiezo Punyu asked the farmers to remain dedicated, work hard, and do proper land planning to get the best out of the land and improve their economic status.
He also encouraged the farmers to freely share their grievances during the technical sessions so as to find solutions to their problems.
Deputy project director ATMA Mon, Subenthung Odyuo said the farmer- scientist’s interaction was a two-way interaction programme between farmers and extension officers and between farmers and research scientists. He said the programme enables more and more farmers to visit/approach extension officers and scientists for their technical guidance on agriculture.
The technical session was conducted by scientist and ACTO Krishi Vigyan Kendra Aboi, Dr Renbomo Ngullie, wherein various issues on production, disease and pest were raised by Framers and the resource person discussed on emerging new diseases and their management. He also stressed on the use of quality seeds and cultural practices to mitigate and adopt with climate change.
Farmers advisory committee Mon members, farmers friend and farmer group leaders from different villages participated in the programme. The programme was chaired by Deputy project director Nuchet and vote of thanks was delivered by Lonkhamse Tikhir from ATMA, Mon.
