Farmers trained on scientific poultry production

Krishi Vigyan Kendra (KVK) Kohima organised a five-training programme on various topics under “Capacity Building of Farmers” through training programme on “Profitable Dairy Farming and Livestock Management” which commenced on February 15 at Ziphenyu village and concluded on March 16 at VAC Gariphe Basa.
The training programme included scientific poultry production at Ziphenyu village, scientific pig production at Henbenji, feeds and feeding management at Tseminyu, common diseases of livestock and its management at Phenwhenyu and integrated farming system for enhancing farmers income at Gariphe Basa on.
Resource persons for the training programmes were VAS, Tseminyu, Dr. Gwathonlo Tsela, VAS, Zunheboto, Dr. Gwazenlo Tep and ACTO (Animal Science) KVK, Kohima, Dr. Paihem.
The valedictory training programme was chaired by senior scientist & head, Dr. Ruokuovilie Mezhatsu at VAC Gariphe Basa where ADC, Chiephobozu, Vekhoyi Chakhesang, who is also the chairman of VAC graced the programme.
ADC encouraged the farmers and KVK institute to work hand in hand for income generation and urged upon the farmers to seek advisory service when needed.
During the technical session, ACTO (Animal Science), Dr. Paihem talked on integrated farming system on livestock base while hands on training and demonstration on mushroom production was imparted by ACTO (Horticulture), Khekali Sema.
Altogether 40 farmers participated at the training. Meanwhile, BDO, Chiephobozu, Seyiekhrielie Rio and Ketho Angami of VAC members were also attended the programme.
Critical inputs like veterinary medicine, mushroom spawn and polybags were also distributed to the farmers. The programme concluded with vote of thanks from technical officer (Farm), Dr. Sesenlo Kath.
