Northern Sumi Student’s Union (NSSU) and Reliance Trends India organised separate felicitation programmes for successful students of High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) and Higher Secondary School Leaving Certificate (HSSLC) examinations, Thursday.
NSSU: Northern Sumi Student’s Union organised a felicitation a programme for HSLC and HSSLC students under the theme, “Towards Success”, at the Conference Hall, Tourist Lodge, Dimapur.
Speaking on the occasion as special guest, Achumbemo Kikon, MLA, congratulated the students on their achievements. He also encouraged them to make good use of the available resources and facility provided by their parents and avoid diverting their attention to things that could hamper their studies.
He advised the young minds to excel in education and harbour the spirit of success to achieve their goals so as to compete with the present competitive world.
Lauding NSSU for organising the felicitation programme, Kikon said such programmes were important as it would encourage the students and motive them to focus on their academic careers.
Highlighting the importance of conservation and preservation of environment, the MLA asked the gathering particularly the students to be advocates of climate change so as to sensitise the people on global warming and its adverse effects on human and environment.
Kikon, who represents the 40 Bhandari Assembly Constituency, urged for collective support and cooperation to further develop the constituency.
The students were also exhorted by NSSU former president, Kughalu K. Chishi and SKK president, Ngukato L Aye while speech on behalf of the students was delivered by Alfred J. Achumi. The programme was chaired by Ikatoli Achumi; invocation by Sumi Baptist Church, Bhandari Town Pastor Inaka Chophy; welcome address was delivered by NSSU president, P. Samuel Chophy; special number was presented by K. Vikali and Bendangmongla Jamir; felicitation of the students by NSSU secretary women affairs, Florence K. Sumi and dedicatory prayer for students by Khakuthato Baptist Church Pastor Tovika K. Chishi. Altogether 29 students were felicitated at the programme.
Reliance: Reliance Trends India held a “HSLC felicitation programme” for school toppers of Christian Higher Secondary School, St Mary Higher Secondary School, SD Jain Higher Secondary School, Ram Janaki Higher Secondary School and Pranab Vidyapith Higher Secondary School, who passed the HSLC examination, at its outlet at Hongkong Market, here at Dimapur on Thursday. Three students each from five schools were felicitated. Addressing the gathering as the chief guest, Dimapur Lotha Students Union (DLSU) president, Benthungo Jungi lauded the successful students and appreciated their hard work and dedication. He also acknowledged the contributions of the parents and teachers in the success of their children and students.
The programme was chaired by Mhashan Tungoe; invocation was said by Mhademo; a special number was also presented by Talisunep while vote of thanks was delivered by Adinle.
