The “Body Festival” training programme 1.0, organized by Feminist Futures India (FFI) at Kohima, concluded on February 26, 2022. The intensive training sessions, which began on December 13, 2021, was facilitated by Sanjina Gupta and Ananya Chatterjee from Rangeen Khidki, Poppy from CHOICE for Youth and Sexuality, and Sekulu Nyekha from FFI.
The programme’s aim was to capacitate young people on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights, and leadership. The participants carried out their own initiatives to understand issues like domestic abuse, sexual assault, menstrual discrimination and consent.
During the graduation ceremony, participants shared their findings, and discussed what could be the way forward.
Findings from their study included common misconceptions in Nagaland that sexual assault does not exist in the state, silencing domestic abuse, etc. There was also concern of inaccessible menstrual products due to economic issues. The young participants were motivated to consciously advocate for Sexual and Reproductive Rights in the days to come.
