Gadkari announces Rs. 3235 crore road project for Nagaland

Union Minister of Road, Transport and Highways, Nitin Gadkari, has announced the new upcoming project for Nagaland at the total sanctioned cost of Rs.3235 crore. Gadkari, who on Friday announced sanctioning of upcoming projects worth Rs. 1.6 lakh crores in the North East, informed that Nagaland project includes the development of Akhegwo to Avangkhu road stretch in three packages.
He said that the road will provide international connectivity to Myanmar and boost connectivity to tourist important-Shilloi Lake.
Gadkari announced the projects during concluding press conference of the review of National Highway projects in North East Region in Guwahati on Friday.
On Wednesday, Union Minister also approved a slew of new road projects, valued at Rs 68,000 crore, in four North Eastern states to make international standard surface connectivity.
After reviewing various national highway projects in the region, Gadkari told press conference that new projects worth Rs 50,000 crore for Assam, Rs 9,000 crore for Meghalaya, Rs 5,000 crore for Nagaland and Rs 4,000 crore for Sikkim have been approved.
It may be mentioned that the official target of highway construction is kept at 12,000 kilometers for the current financial year. The ministry constructed 10,237 kilometers in 2019-20, 13,327 kms in 2020-21, and 10,457 kms in 2021-22.
