GHSS Peren celebrates 75th anniversary

Government Higher Secondary School (GHSS) Peren celebrated its 75th anniversary on October 22 at School premises with and advisor for School Education and SCERT, K.T. Sukhalu as the special guest and former chief minister and UDA chairman, TR. Zeliang as the chief host.
According to a DIPR report, Sukhalu appreciated the school’s performance and contribution. He also encouraged the school to impart quality education with good infrastructure and urged the parents to focus and invest more in education.
The advisor said the government was also trying its best to ensure education in the interior areas. He also advised the teachers to be sincere in duty and stay committed to students in imparting education and to ensure good enrolment in the school for infrastructural development.
Earlier, Sukhalu unveiled the jubilee monolith which was followed by the jubilee anthem.
In his speech, TR. Zeliang spoke on the service rendered by the teaching faculties, management board, pioneers, and non-teaching staff of the GHSS for the upliftment of the school. He encouraged the students and others to remember the teachers who uphold the culture and traditions of the people.
Zeliang acknowledged the teachers for their dedication and efforts in delivering successful results for the students each year. He also spoke on the importance of the NEP project sponsored by the World Bank livelihood and appealed to the school officials to start implementing the project at the earliest and said that institutions act as an incubator for the students to achieve quality heights.
Others who spoke in the programme included principal director school education, Thavaseelan. K, chairman NBSE, Asano Sekhose, retd. asst. director and former headmaster, Suipeu Iheilung and former minister, NeibaNdang.
The schools also honored the alumni, former heads of the school, assistant heads, and supporting staff for their immense contributions to the school.
Other highlights of the program were cultural shows, the release of a souvenir, and a special presentation by students of GHSS.
