Gorkhas in Kohima observe martyrs’ day

Gorkha Public Panchayat Kohima (GPPK) along with other Gorkha Non-Governmental Organisations (NGOs) observed Balidan Diwas (Martyrs’ Day) at GPPK hall, Chandmari, Kohima on Thursday.
In a press release, GPPK publicity committee informed that special guest of the programme, commandant 1st Assam Rifles, Col. Umesh Chandra Sati urged upon the gathering not to forget the sacrifices made by the gallant heroes and to be inspired by them in any circumstances.
At the prorgamme, Col. Sati, GB Kamal Bahadur Chettri, GPPK president Santu Thapa and advisors led lighting of lamps and paid floral tribute to the gallant heroes—major late Durga Malla and late captain Neikezakuo.
The programme was chaired by GPPK secretary Jibon Pradhan, special numbers were presented Vivela Club, Esha Khati & Binod Mothey, significance of the day was shared by Gorkha Sahitya Kala Sanstha president, Chandra Kumar Lama while Gorkha Biswakarma Pariwarik Welfare Society Ratan Lohar proposed vote of thanks.
Other members of the community also joined the programme virtually.
