Gov assures to set up two SDA offices in Wokha

Governor of Nagaland, Prof. Jagdish Mukhi on Wednesday, assured to set up two Sub- Divisional Agriculture (SDA) offices at Sanis and Ralan.
According to a DIPR report, the governor while addressing a meeting with heads of offices during his visit to Wokha district, also enquired on the number of villages and households without electricity and reminded the responsible department to ensure that no village or household was left without electricity.
PHED Wokha division, executive engineer, informed the governor, that under toilet facility for all in the rural areas, so far 80% of work has been completed while the remaining work was in progress.
On JJM which commenced in 2019, EE informed that 47 projects in different villages were completed covering about 8999 Functional household tap connection (FHTC) and the remaining under progress.
Governor said in order to increase and double the income of farmers, various schemes were introduced and asked the responsible departments to ensure that soil cards were provided to all farmers, seeds, manure & pesticides to be provided on time and help the farmers in marketing their produce.
He reminded the deputy commissioner (DC) to monitor and pursue the projects vigorously every month.
DRDA Wokha, project director, while stressing on rural housing informed that 374 households were benefited under this project and 271 were under progress while 103 under waiting list.
Governor said if the educated youth willing to take up farming, the government was willing to help in terms of providing modern technologies, machineries and equipment.
In this regard, he urged upon the educated youth to take up agriculture sector to become self-reliant.
With regard to delay in sanctioning of loan, especially SEP-I under DUDA by banks, he assured to take up the matter on priority.
Later, he also held a meeting with Lotha Hoho, Lotha Eloe Hoho and other stakeholders.
In his visit to Doyang, Prof. Mukhi called on the staff and students of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (VKV) NEEPCO, Doyang and interacted with the students.
A civic reception was held at Doyang helipad in the presence of advisor for Horticulture & Border Affairs Mhathung Yanthan, DC Wokha, superintendent of police, general manager NEEPCO Doyang, SDO (C) Sanis and other departmental heads.
Expressing astonishment by the natural beauty of Doyang, Prof. Mukhi proposed Doyang for wide tourism attraction.
After interacting with NEEPCO officials, he held a meeting with NGOs, village council chairmen, GBs, Fishery Union and Land Owners Union Doyang.
Later, the governor held an interaction with heads of departments in the conference hall of the DC Wokha, to review centrally sponsored schemes (CSSs) under Wokha district.
DC Wokha Ajit Kumar Ranjan who chaired the meeting highlighted about the district, physical features and boundaries, demography, economic profile, government health facilities-health profile, banking facilities and success stories such as the conservation of Amur Falcon, rubber cultivation and growing of organic coffee which was not only sold locally but exported to South Africa and Arab countries.
Advisor for Law & Justice, Dr. Chumben Murry expressed gratitude on behalf of the people of Wokha district for his visit and apprised the governor about schemes and projects implemented in the district.
He also apprised the governor on equitable distribution of funds for implementation of different projects.
