Gov, CM others extend Ahuna greetings

Nagaland governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi, chief minister Neiphiu Rio, deputy chief minister Y. Patton and UDA co-chairman and NFLP leader Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu have extended Ahuna greetings to the Sumi community and the people of Nagaland.
Gov: In his greetings, governor Mukhi said the festival is celebrated in purity of body and mind, and in gratitude for a bountiful harvest. “I believe that the festive spirit of oneness and bonding would restore our faith and lead us towards peace and progress,” he said.
He also said that the Ahuna celebrations should make the younger generation more aware of the Sumi’s ancient rich history, philosophy of life and culture, and to foster friendship and unity among the community.
CM: Taking to twitter, chief minister Neiphiu Rio, in his greetings, wished that “the post-harvest festival bring blessings of good fortune and well-being in everyone’s life.”
DyCM: Deputy chief minister Y. Patton said Ahuna, a post harvest festival, is spent in feasting and merry making, in honour of a bumper harvests after long months of toiling in the fields, adding that the festival should be a good time to foster unity and reconciliation among brethren. On behalf of the state BJP legislators, Patton conveyed heartiest festive greetings and hoped that it is celebrated with joy and happiness.
NPFLP: NPF Legislature leader and UDA co-chairman UDA Kuzholuzo (Azo) Nienu said Ahuna is a significant festival celebrated by the Sumi Naga tribe, as the festival is celebrated to rejoice the most abundant and fruitful season for all the prosperous harvest of the year. “It is a time to thank to God for His unceasing blessings that He has bestowed upon us for the good harvest’. Azo prayed and hoped that the festival will brings peace, unity and communal harmony to the community and the people.
