Advisor, Prisons, Printing & Stationery, H Haiying launched the prison staff attendance application at District Jail, here, on Monday.
In his speech, Haiying congratulated the department of Prisons led by director general of prisons, HG, CD & SDRF, Rupin Sharma for coming up with innovative ideas for the department.
Besides the app, he said the department also implemented various projects and correctional improvement measures for the welfare of the inmates.
Haiying stated that these efforts skill inmates which will enable them to be self-reliant once they go out of prison and become better individuals. He congratulated the app designers at Excellogics Tech Solutions Pvt. Ltd. for successfully bringing out the app.
After he was assigned as advisor, Haiying noticed that the staff at all the prisons worked effectively, tirelessly and even beyond the call of their duty. He lauded the staff for their diligence and remarked that the department was also upgrading with the changing times.
Haiying expressed hope that there would be better attendance and efficiency among the staff with the launching of the app and encouraged them to work with more dedication.
While delivering the welcome address, Rupin Sharma informed that the app would be introduced in all the prisons across Nagaland. He pointed out that although biometric attendance system was implemented in all the departments, the system had its own drawbacks, especially in technical aspects.
Observing these issues, Rupin Sharma said the concept to come up with the app was formulated since it would be more easily accessible. He disclosed that a similar app to the attendance app called “prisons patrolling app” would also be designed soon, to monitor the prisons.
Rupin also informed that the new app would function like other banking apps where QR codes would be scanned to register a person on a regular basis. He said the code would send current location of a person scanning it, therefore, there was less chance of a person manipulating the system.
The programme was chaired by assistant jailor Kelhouhenyü Ronald, a presentation on the app was given by Zhalhouvi-e Nagi from Excellogics while jailor Teisi Thou proposed the vote of thanks.
