‘Hanging Library’ for children inaugurated

With an objective to encourage and inculcate the habit of reading, “Hanging Library” was inaugurated at Government Middle School (GMS) Tenyiphe II and GMS Block IV, Chumoukedima by Deputy Commissioner (DC) Chumoukedima, Abhinav Shivam on November 18.
According to a DIPR report, in a brief speech, Extra Assistant Commissioner (EAC), Chumoukedima, Dziesengunuo Mere said a small library of books, comprising mainly story books and rhyme books targeted for the primary and middle school students “Pratham Books”, was donated by Books for All Trust, Noida through the initiative of DC Chumoukedima, Abhinav Shivam.
Mere expressed the hope that this little initiative would sow the seeds of cultivating the habit of reading in the students. She then encouraged all the children to make full use of the library and to cultivate reading culture, and urged the teachers to encourage every child to utilize the books.
Underscoring the importance of reading, Mere said making a library of books available to children in their growing and developmental stage was very important for their overall development.
At the inaugural programme, the welcome address was delivered by district officer Chumoukedima, Nivizolie Meyase, invocation by Maria and vote of thanks by head teacher, Tsizo.
