The India Meteorological Department (IMD) has predicted heavy to very heavy rainfall activity with lightning and gusty winds over Northeast region during next five days.
According to IMD, this was a result of the incursion of moisture in the atmosphere due to strong low-level Southerly/ Southwesterly winds from the Bay of Bengal to Northeast. In this regard, IMD has issued yellow alert in the Assam, Meghalaya, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram and Tripura from May 17 to 21 and yellow alert in Arunachal from May 20 to 21. This weather pattern can lead to waterlogging, flash floods, and landslides in vulnerable areas. Residents and local authorities have been urged to remain vigilant and take appropriate measures to ensure public safety.
