H&FW deptt holds workshop on monkeypox

In view of the detection of confirmed monkeypox cases in the country, the health and family welfare (H&FW) department organised a one-day orientation workshop for the district trainers on monkeypox at the IDSP Conference Hall, directorate of health & family welfare, Kohima August 5, 2022.
In his address, National Health Mission (NHM) mission director Dr.Thorhusie Katiry spoke on the need for preparedness and response to monkeypox.
He challenged the district functionaries to take the learnings of the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the response towards monkeypox. He also stressed the need for early detection, isolation, testing and treatment, surveillance besides the need to create awareness amongst the general public.
At the workshop, the resource persons including Dr.Nyan Kikon, Dr. John Kemp, Dr.Imti Jamir and Dr.Bernice spoke on the overview & epidemiology, sample collection & testing, clinical management and targeted interventions & linkages respectively.
