Hornbill Festival 2022: Highlights of day 7

The 23rd edition of the Hornbill International Festival 2022 entered its seventh day on Wednesday at the Heritage Village, Kisama.
Apart from cultural presentation, various activities such as tug-of-war between cultural troupes and demonstration on woodcraft were conducted.
Tug-of-War final to be played today: The department of Youth Resources & Sports organized tug of war at the Main Arena, Kisama with participation from different cultural troupes both men and women. In the men’s category, Chakhesang cultural troupe defeated the Garo tribe 2-0, and in the women’s category, Rengma cultural troupe defeated Kuki tribe. The quarter final and final matches will be played on December 8, after the cultural presentation in the morning session. The first and second prize winners will be awarded Rs. 15,000 and Rs. 10,000 respectively.
Woodcraft demonstration: Two artisans- Mhaseveyi Phesao and Nusakho Swuro both from Chozuba under Phek district, demonstrated their carving of the iconic house emblems symbolizing the stature of the individual as a feast giver, at the Naga Artisans’ Meet, World War-II Museum Kisama on Wednesday.
Mhaseveyi, an unemployed graduate in Arts stream from C-Edge College Dimapur and Nusakho Swuro started carving of Warriors Craftwood such as Mithun, Tigers, etc. in 2015. They sell their traditional designs and decorative crafts according to the size, with some products being sold for Rs. 2,00,000 and above. Many tourist visitors including school children from different institutions led by their teachers and faculty members also witnessed the event.
