NBSE notifies on NEP 2020 (4.9)
Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) has directed higher secondary institutions in the State to introduce more subjects as offered under the scheme of studies of the board.
In a notification, NBSE insisted that an institution should have enough subjects to offer so that a student could select the subject of his/her choice to study as per the National Education Policy– NEP, 2020 (4.9).
The board also cautioned the institutions not to fix subjects of choice like either History or Philosophy, or either Political Science or Economics for the students, but give the freedom to the students to choose their subjects of study from the subjects offered by the institution.
According to the board, NEP has envisaged that students would be given increased flexibility and choice of subjects to study, including subjects in physical education, arts and craft, and vocational skills so that they could design their own paths of study and life plans.
