High School Women Organization (HSWO), comprising of 7 colonies under Ward-1 of the Kohima Municipal Council (KMC), organised a one-day football event at the Indira Gandhi stadium, here on Saturday.
The annual colony sports meet for mothers started last year with the hope to unite people from all the different localities, while also having fun.
Special guest for the event, Nagaland Football Coaches Association (NFCA) & Northern Angami Youth Organization (NAYO) president, Roko Angami lauded HSWO for making efforts to create unity through football.
While appreciating sacrifices made by mothers, he recalled how he was raised by a widowed mother with no female sibling.
He said nothing could replace a mother’s love and that it was priceless.
Encouraging women to realize their worth in the society, he said there was nothing that a woman would not be able to do.
The football coach also shared his delight on how the organizations chose football to promote unity, making the event even more meaningful.
In a brief remark, High School Panchayat ward-1, chairman, Keduotuolie Mepfhüo said that the sporting event was a day for mothers to have fun, even as they carry out their daily responsibilities.
He informed that the ward is the biggest ward under KMC areawise, covering about 3 KM. As it includes seven localities under one ward, he said that there were several challenges in carrying out any activity(ies).
He therefore lauded the women body for taking the unique initiative to keep the denizens united.
Although football may be a difficult game for mothers, he said that these women have won the people’s hearts as they make efforts to tie people closer.
A total of seven teams representing the areas namely Rokabozou, Sepfüzou, Themezie, Peraciezie, Perizie, Zienuobadze, Khikha-Rüliezou took part in the one-day event.
