I&C department annual conference & workshop underway

A two-day annual conference-cum-workshop on schemes and programmes of the department of Industries and Commerce (I&C) got underway on Tuesday in the conference hall of the directorate of Industries and Commerce, Kohima.
According to a DIPR report, guest of honour, advisor for Industries & Commerce, Employment, Skill Development and Entrepreneurship, Imnatiba during the inaugural programme said the sole purpose of the conference was for officers of the department to come forward and share their thoughts and express their grievances and struggles.
He also informed that the conference would discuss ways and means to overcome these issues to ensure that the department functioned smoothly and served the public in all its capacity.
On the rising unemployment problem in the state, Imnatiba stated that the department was bestowed with the responsibility to create avenues and employment opportunities in the private sector.
In this regard, he urged upon the officers of the department to be innovative in their approach to their duty and act as facilitators and consultants for young and upcoming entrepreneurs.
The advisor also initiated a discussion with the participants with regard to implementation of various schemes and programmes in all the districts and subdivisions.
Meanwhile, commissioner and secretary, Kekhrievor Kevichusa also encouraged the officers to actively participate in the workshop and discuss ways and means to implement flagship programmes and centrally sponsored schemes.
The inaugural programme was chaired by additional director Temjen Jamir while director, department of Industries and Commerce Vitsutho Nyuthe delivered the welcome address.
The two-day annual conference-cum-workshop on schemes and programmes would be highlighted by presentations from general managers of district Industries Centres on the first day and presentations on schemes and programmes of the department by programme officers on the second day.
