IMCT team in Nagaland to assess damage

To access damage and loss occurred due to various disaster like floods, landslides, etc, the Inter-Ministerial Central Team (IMCT) visited Tening, Wokha, Peren and Chumoukedima on December 12 and 13.
A report by DIPR stated that the team headed by Superintending Engineer (c) Brahmaputra Basin Organization, Central Water Commission, and Assistant Director (PFC-1) Department of Expenditure, MoF North Block, New Delhi accompanied by NSDMA Peren visisted Tening on December 12.
At the visit, ADC Tening, Imsenperong Wati welcomed the team and briefed the overall situation of Tening sub-division.
A short powerpoint presentation on the disaster situation faced by Nsong circle was presented by EAC Nsong, Yimkum. I. Ozukum.
He also highlighted some of the grievances and major problems face by Nsong area people during monsoon seasons and said that due to incessant rains and natural calamity road connectivity were cut off by landslide hampering the lifeline of the Nsong area villages.
Others who attended the meeting with the IMCT team included Nsong Village council members headed by its GB and concerned line department.
WOKHA: The team led by Ravinesh Kumar, FA (NDMA), Anil Kumar Singh, Under Secretary Rural Housing Division, Department of Rural Development, and Ankit UmRao Assistant Executive Engineer (MORTH) visited Wokha district on December 13.
Ravinesh Kumar, while briefing the Wokha District Management members said the two central groups will be visiting six districts on their two-day visit to the State and do an eyesight/ spot assessment and report the findings to the Government of India, Ministry of Home Affairs for Central Assistance to the State from National Disaster Respond (NDR) fund.
Kumar also said that the team will visit damaged sites to get an idea and how best to assist the state.
DC and Chairman Wokha District Management Authority Wokha, Ajit Kumar Ranjan highlighted the damages to infrastructures, roads connectivity within Wokha district, floods, landslides, human-elephants conflict, and fire incidents, etc that occurred in the district.
The team also visited District Veterinary Hospital, at Saron colony Wokha for spot verification and assessment, where the hospital building was on the verge of collapse due to landslides and erosion. The team after spot verification took note of the situation.
PEREN: In Peren, the team held briefing with District Disaster Management Authority and other line departmental officials at ADC Office, Jalukie on December 13.
The meeting was chaired by EAC Jalukie, Imtinungla Longkumer. During the interaction, DDMA Peren, chairman and DC Peren, Vineet Kumar, and other line departments which included PHED, PWD (R&B), Veterinary, Fisheries, Housing, and Water Resources gave a brief PowerPoint presentation on disaster that hampered the public and properties during the last monsoon in the district.
The team also informed that immediate relief would be provided to each damage on a nominal basis. After the interaction, the visiting team along with DDMA officials and line departments visited Mongleu Irrigational Dam for spot assessment.
The IMC team was led by Sanjay Singh, Superintending Engineer (C) Brahmaputra Basin Organization, Central Water Commission, Tanveer Ahmad Khan, Assistant Director (PFC-1), Dept. of Expenditure, MoF, North Block, New Delhi. The team was also accompanied by Keren Rose, Nodal Officer, Peren district, and Rendemo, State Emergency Operation Centre.
Chumoukedima: The team inspected the disaster sites in Chumoukedima areas on December 12. The team Superintending Engineer(C) Brahmaputra Basin Organisation, Central Water Commission, Sanjay Kumar Singh and Assistant Director(PFC-I), Dpt of Expenditure MOF, North Block, New Delhi, Tanveer Ahmed Khan inspected the sites starting from Pimla-Zhutovi, Pagalapahar, Sodzulhou, Seithekima basa and Tsithrongse. During the inspection, the concerned departments briefed the issues and damages caused by the monsoon. The team asked the line departments to submit their proposal.
