Joint meeting for SLB platinum jubilee held in Zunheboto

A joint meeting of Sumi frontal organisations and sub-committees of the organising committee of 75th jubilee celebration of the Sumi Literature Board (SLB) was held at Sumi Baptist Church, Zunheboto on Saturday to discuss the jubilee celebration of SLB.
In a press release, SLB platinum jubilee, media and awareness committee member, Holoka T. Sumi stated that during the meeting, planning committee chairman, HK Khulu, IAS (retd) said the platinum jubilee celebration will be held on December 13, 2022, at Multipurpose Hall Zunheboto on the theme “Niza Tsa Na Ni Ju-Aje”.
The meeting resolved to invite minister of Agriculture & Cooperation, Kaito Aye as chief guest, advisor of School Education & SCERT, KT Sukhalu as guest of honour and advisor of Tourism, Art & Culture, Khehovi Yepthomi for launching of Sumi dictionary.
Addressing the media, SLB chairman Vihoshe Muru stated that the state government granted permission to introduce Sümi language under modern Indian language as a subject in HSLC in November 1977.
The Nagaland Board of School Education (NBSE) then granted approval in 1978 and the first exams were conducted in 1980.
Further, the Nagaland University approved introduction of Sema (MIL) in Pre-University (PU) on January 1997 and the subject was first introduced in Mount Olive College Kohima in the same year.
He said the Sütsah Academy Thilixu began in 2015 had 260 passed out students till date and a diploma course had begun at Yemhi College with three dictionaries.
Under the initiative of the department of Art and Culture, an Anglo Sümi dictionary with diacritic markers is undergoing printing and is expected shortly, he informed. The meeting was attended by Sumi Hoho, Sumi Kukami Hoho, Sumi Totomi Hoho, Sumi Officers union and other Sumi organisations.
