Minister agriculture and co-operation as the introductory guest, Kaito Aye and advisor, Food and Civil Supplies (F&CS) LM&CP, Taxes department, Pukhayi Sumi graced the ongoing 50th Biennial General Conference of Sumi Kiphimi Kuqhakulu (All Sumi Students’ Union) as introductory guest and cultural guest respectively.
A press release by SKK media and publicity stated that speaking at the introductory session, Kaito said student bodies play a major role in bringing change in the functioning of the government and called upon the students to remain united and be the light of the society.
He also encouraged SKK to be the torchbearers of the student community and led them towards a better and just society.
Discouraging the dependency on “backdoor appointments”, Kaito said the present generation students are smart and fast learners and that they should not depend or encourage “backdoor appointment” practices rather work hard to secure jobs.
In his address, Pukhayi deliberated on the importance of preserving the rich culture and traditions passed down by the ancestors.
Cultural competition and cultural presentations were the highlights of the programme. Greetings were also delivered by Sumi Hoho president Nikheto Sumi, ENPO president R. Tsapikiu Sangram and Sumi Totimi Hoho president and Kheholi Assumi.
