KDFA holds trial; 26 shortlisted

Correspondent

Kohima District Football Association (KDFA) conducted trial for the upcoming Nagaland Olympics and Paralympic Games 2022 at IG Stadium, here on Wednesday.
Out of the total of 67 players who turned up for the trial, 26 players were shortlisted.
The selected players will undergo training after which, a set of 20 players would be shortlisted again to make up the final team.
Interacting with the player turning up for the trial, Kohima District Football Referee Association (KDFRA) president and KDFA advisor, Roko Angami urged the players to give their best since only the best would be selected.
Expressing his happiness over the huge turnout, Roko said gone were the days when officials would scramble for players to represent the district.
He said although the district was not short of players, many of them only played in the colony level and often do not turn up for trials thus missing out opportunities.
He observed that when sufficient players do not turn up, officials had to choose whoever shows up which leads to making weaker teams.
“When players turn up in bigger numbers, then officials have the freedom to choose the best and make up a strong team,” Roko said.
He added a player may be good at the game but if they do not turn up for the trial then they would not get selected as proper system procedure that was put into place had to be followed.
He reminded the players that when they become a team then they become a family. He urged the players to give their best and give the selectors a tough time in choosing the best.
The selected players are registered with KDFA and would be representing Kohima district in upcoming State football events starting with the Nagaland Olympic and Paralympic Games 2022.
Team manager for Kohima district team will be Viliebeizo Liezietsu, team coach Zakietuolie Khrodi and Team Physio Zakie.
