Kiphire DPDB meet on tackling drug menace

Kiphire District Planning & Development Board (DPDB) meeting was held at DC’s Conference Hall, Kiphire on November 5 under the chairmanship of Deputy Commissioner, T Wati Aier.
According to DIPR report, during the meeting, certificates were given to five tour guide trainees/ operators, which was sponsored by the Aspirational District programme Fund (NEC), by the DC. Stating that Kiphire is blessed with scenic natural beauty and landscape where tourists would set their foots in the district, Aier appealed to the trainees to assist the tourists at all times.
On using of helipad ground for recreational activities by the public, the deputy commissioner warned the citizens not to enter the helipad ground at all times except for utilizing chopper services. He warned that strict action in the form of imprisonment or fine will be imposed on all defaulters with immediate effect. The DC also requested the ward chairmen, NGOs, and ward authorities to check the place from time to time. With the increase in drug abuse in the district among the youth, the house decided to send a proposal requesting of posting a narcotic officer to tackle the drug menace.
Fire & Emergency Services and District Disaster Management Authority, Kiphire presented their departmental activities. Samir Thapa highlighted some of the activities taken up by Grassroots Innovation Augmentation Network (GIAN) Gujurat. GIAN is an NGO to undertake market research and project development to identify the unique products of Nagaland.
