Kma Super Cup: New Market enters final

New Market FC became the second finalist after defeating A-Yhome FC 2-1 in the last semi-final match in the ongoing Kohima Super Cup organised by Kohima Town Club at IGS, here on Sunday.
In what could be termed as a complete turn of events, New Market came very close to being knocked out of the tournament as all their efforts met with stiff resistance from their opponents.
A-Yhome’s Punuru had impressively netted the ball in 120th second of the match after the team was awarded a free kick no sooner than the referee, Priyobarta, blew the whistle for the game to begin.
This goal stood as the lone score of the game for the first half and even well into the last 3 minutes of full-time.
The match got really intense as New Market was on the offensive while on the other hand A-Yhome intently guarded it’s home from any invasive manoeuvres as they got hold of the upper hand early on.
It was only when all hopes had fizzled out in the New Market fans that Rhitso Mero brought back a wave of happiness through his score in the 87th minute of the game which was met with a thunderous response from the crowd.
With the equalizer in place, the pressure mounted on both the teams as they drew the last of their energy to seal off the deal and prevent a repetition of the first semi-final which had to go through a gruelling extra time of 30 minutes followed by a penalty shootout.
And in the last minute of the four minutes added time New Market’s Kevisanyü Peseyie scored the final goal giving no chance to A-Yhome to retaliate even if they wanted as the final whistle was blown within seconds of the goal.
A section of the crowd flooded into the stadium to greet their team while on the other sides there was a visible dejection as their team came so close to getting one more shot at the title.
The final match is slated for a showdown on May 31 where Barak FC will take on New Market FC to be played under the floodlights.
