The aggrieved land owners of Kohima to Jessami 2-lane construction, packages 2, 3 and 4, jointly organised a peaceful agitation and closed the office of the National Highways & Infrastructure Development Corporation Ltd (NHIDCL) deputy general manager (Dy.GM) at Pfutsero on Friday over non-payment of damage compensations.
Convenor of the aggrieved land owners’ body Kuveluyi Chuzho said that the agitation would go on till a written assurance was given stating when and how the payments for the damage caused would be made. He alleged that the land owners had been kicked around like a football for too long, lied to and excuses had been made passing the baton from one to another.
Even after suffering for almost two years without homes, pillars dangling in the air, not knowing when the houses would collapse with the whole family, he lamented that to date no clarity was seen from the authorities concerned to ease the sufferings.
Through this release, he said the aggrieved land owners would like to reach out to the authorities concerned to look into their grievances at the earliest. Failing which, they threatened to take further course of action, for which they should not be blamed.
