Kohima police personnel manning Khuzama inter-state check gate while conducting routine checking of vehicles on March 30 detected 360 grams (approximate) of suspected heroin and arrested one person.
In a press release, Kohima police PRO informed that the police personnel intercepted a Hyundai I20 (AS-05L-2800), which was proceeding towards Dimapur from Senapati, and detected the suspected heroin neatly packed in 30 soap cases.
In this connection, police arrested the driver of the vehicle namely S. Livingpeace (42), resident of Senapati, Manipur and seized the contraband along with the vehicle.
During preliminary investigation, PRO said the total value of the illegal contraband was found to be worth approximately Rs. 50 lakh in the national market. Accordingly, a case under the NDPS Act has been registered at Khuzama Police Station for the purpose of further investigation, informed PRO.
