Kohima police arrest 2 for murder

Kohima police arrested two persons, identified as Dulon Roy (30) of Karimganj, Assam on October 17 and Manjit Biswas (27) of Hojai, Assam on October 18, on charges of murder.
According to Kohima police PRO, one Manoranjan Nath aged around 45, who was working as a carpenter at Tsiesema Basa Village Baptist Church was reported missing since September 25. Later, on September 28, police recovered his body below the road covered by jungle bushes.
During investigation, PRO said police found that two persons who were working with the deceased were last seen with him, and had also gone missing since September 25. Leads in the investigation were followed and as a result, one of the accused identified as Dulon Roy was arrested by Kohima police from an isolated location along Nagaland-Assam border and the other accused identified as Manjit Biswas, who was sheltering at Hojai under Lanka PS jurisdiction was also arrested from his hideout by Kohima police team led by SDPO (North).
PRO informed that the arrested accused persons confessed to committing the crime and disclosed that they visited the victim’s house on September 25.
The arrested accused also confessed that they consumed liquor and picked up a quarrel, which led to the assault and strangulation of the victim.
