Kronu inaugurates F&ES station at Pfutsero

Minister of Planning and Coordination, Land Revenue and Parliamentary Affairs, Neiba Kronu on Friday inaugurated the Fire and Emergency Services (F&ESS) Station at Pfutsero sub-division under Phek district.
The station was dedicated by pastor Pfutseromi Baptist Church Wetsho Mero.
Two F&ES stations at Chiephobozou and Khuzama under Kohima district will also be inaugurated on December 19 and 21.
Kronu, who inaugurated the 19th F&ES in the state in the presence of advisor of Fire & Emergency Services and SIRD, Relief & Rehabilitation Pohwang Konyak said fire services concept has been discussed in the cabinet not just about dousing the fire but its functioning on safety measures.
Pointing out that it was compulsory for school, colleges, hotels or commercial buildings to install fire safety measures, Kronu said that institute/shops without safety measures will not be allowed to operate. The minister also said the church should ensure fire safety measures.
Kronu also acknowledged the chief minister and advisor F&ES for their prompt action for early completion and functioning of the office and sought cooperation for effective functioning.
Advisor Pohwang Konyak in his brief speech, said that since all stations have been placed in town and that in the event of fire incident at village it take for the fire fighters to reach the spot. He therefore appealed to the citizens to cooperate with the department and fire fighters instead of harassing and accusing the department officials.
Inspector General of Fire & Emergency Services, Neilasa Sopfü in his opening remark said with the increase of fire incident in the country, government of India in 2012 conducted survey and found that 48 F&ES stations was required in Nagaland along with training station.
Sopfü said that the department also took serious note of the loss of lives and properties and forwarded the matter after which the cabinet approved Nagaland fire and emergency service Bill.
ADC Pfutsero Japheth Woch in his brief address acknowledged the commitment of the local MLA for brining development in Pfutsero sub division.
He thanked advisor Pohwang Konyak for bringing fire and emergency services even to the sub division on priority for Pfutsero and urged the citizens to protect the government property.
Ex-chairman Pfutsero Town Council Yekhuse Tureng also spoke at the function.
