Konyak Union Mon Branch has extended support to the phase-wise agitation called by the Tizit civil society organisations (CSOs) against the failure to resume of construction of N-M road (NH-702).
As part its phase-I agitation, Tizit CSOs imposed the “chaka bandh” along N-M road (NH-702) on July 30, from 6 a.m. to 6 p.m.
The CSOs stated that the second phase of agitation would be in the form of indefinite road blockade if the contractor failed to resume repairing of N-M road during the first phase Agitation.
The civil society organisations have requested the public of Mon district to cooperate during agitation.
KU Mon branch through its media cell lauded Konyak Union Tizit unit and Tizit Area Students’ Union for taking the “bold stand” to impose “chaka bandh” against the deplorable road conditions of the only lifeline of Mon district—Namtola, Assam and Mon Road (NH-702).
In spite of repeated appeals for completion of the work, KU Mon branch said the contractors remained “oblivious to the situation on ground” and paid no heed to the administration or NGOs.
In such a situation, KU said the union would be compelled to take actions.
KU Mon branch stated that it has also decided to pursue the matter relentlessly until the public of Mon district was able to access good roads.
