KYO, SSC win Open Volleyball Tourney


Kiruphema Youth Organization (KYO) and Senapati Sporting Club (NNC) emerged as the champions in men’s and women’s categories respectively at the 9th Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament, which culminated at Indira Gandhi Stadium, Kohima on November 12.
Nagaland Building & Other Construction Workers’ Welfare Board (NBOCWWB) chairman Dr. Kekhrie Yhome, who graced the programme as special guest, stressed on the importance of sports and advised the players to take up the sports as a career and not as a mere hobby.
In the men’s category, Kiruphema Youth Organization (KYO) clinched the tournament’s championship title and walked away with a cash prize of Rs 70,000 while the runner-up team Jorhat Volleyball Club Assam received a cash prize of Rs 40,000. Semi-finalists BKK Kezo town and Michazou Mima each received Rs 10,000 each. In women’s category, SSC clinched the champion title and received a cash prize of Rs 40,000 while runner-up was secured by Sodinie, Kidima team received Rs 20,000. There was no semi-finalist under women’s category.

While Beveinai of SSC won the women player of the tournament. A total of 14 teams participated in the 9th Kohima Open Volleyball Tournament.
