Lakhuti-I Officers’ Forum, Kohima DPDB felicitate toppers

Lakhuti-I Officers’ Forum (LOF) felicitated two toppers from Lakhuti village who emerged in the Top 10 in the recently declared HSSLC examination.
Renthunglo Yanthan from St. Josephs’ Higher Secondary School and Bena Patton from Mezhur higher Secondary School secured 10th rank in the recently declared HSSLC examination 2022. Advisor horticulture and border affairs Mhathung Yanthan who graced the occasion as guest of honour congratulated the toppers and encouraged the duo not to lose focus and maintain consistency till they achieved their goals.
Yanthan also acknowledged the parents of the toppers for nurturing their children well which he said not every parent could do. The advisor also congratulated Francis Kikon, Lotha subject teacher from Isaiah ability school Wokha where 47 secured distinction including a student from Konyak and Sema community and nine subject toppers from IAS Wokha.
He however lamented that among many communities, the Lotha community did not give priority to the Lotha language and that even at home, parents and children communicated either in English or Nagamese which he said, was not a good trend. Yathan reminded that losing the language would lead to loss of identity and said students excelling in Lotha subject was a proud moment for the Lotha community. He also mentioned that Wokha district HSLC results were declining each year and during the DPDB meeting, it was decided to have a brainstorming session very soon. Francis Kikon who was the special invitee on the occasion thanked the LOF and shared how he always placed God first because knowledge and wisdom came from God. He also lamented that much importance has not been given to Lotha language and said the subject should be taken up to graduate level. Renthunglo and Bena also delivered short speeches.
Kohima DPDB: Kohima District Planning and Development Board (DPDB) felicitated the topper of High School Leaving Certificate Examination Topper 2022 among Government High Schools in Kohima district on Wednesday, in the conference hall of the DPDB Kohima. According to a DIPR report, vice chairman DPDB Kohima, Keneizakho Nakhro, MLA, gave away the certificate of merit and cash to Vesulhulu, the GHS HSLC 2022 topper during the programme. Speaking at the occasion, advisor for Urban Development, Municipal Affairs & Smart City, Dr. Neikiesalie Nicky Kire congratulated the topper and the school for the achievement. Dr. Nicky encouraged government schools to produce better result while citing the example of Mizoram toppers who were always from government schools.
Meanwhile, the district’s new deputy commissioner (DC) and DPDB Kohima vice chairman, Shanavas C expressed happiness to be part of the programme right after coming back from education department as principal director for three years. Short speeches were also delivered by HSLC 2022 topper, Vesulhulu and vice principal of Dr. Neilhouzhu Kire Government Higher Secondary School Seikhazou Kohima, Rose Chishi; vote of thanks was delivered by District Education Officer, Kohima, Emilo.
