LBC introduces course on agri sector

A vocational course on Agri & Allied Sector was introduced at Living Bible College (LBC), Ayinato Vihokhu on Monday.
According to DIPR report, the course was launched by Agriculture Production Commissioner (APC), Y. Kikheto Sema after a dedication prayer by pastor NCRC Sumi Thilixu, Rev. Phuhoto Chishi.
In his speech, Kikheto termed the initiative as a unique and applauded the college for taking step to incorporate the vocational aspect of sustainability for creation and environment.
He challenged the students and church leaders to integrate the holistic approach of “Work and Eat” culture both within the church and theological education.
Stating that “environment was crying out for help” due to humans activities, he said that church across denominations and government should come together to create a more sustainable ecosystem, economy, and climate condition. Delivering key note address, Prof. Akali Sema, NU: SASRD introduced the vocational course and said that National Educational Policy was moving towards vocational-oriented program—“Multiple entry, Multiple exit.”
She also stressed on the importance of having basic skills of theory and practice related to agriculture and horticulture such as farming practices, management of pest and disease, postharvest management and marketing skills. She further disclosed that Living Bible College was the first among the Bible Colleges in the Nagaland to offer vocational course in collaboration with NU SASRD.
The course has been designed in such way that it will not affect the regular classes of the institution.
It may be noted that SASARD, NU helped in designing the course curriculum and Syllabus and also the first lecture was delivered by Dr. Gracely Yeptho from the department of Horticulture, SASARD, NU. Earlier, the programme was chaired by academic dean LBC, Avikato Sumi and welcome address was delivered by member managing board LBC, Khekiho Shohe.
Special song by LBC choir; vote of thanks by principal of LBC, Kiyekhe Kiba and closing prayer lecture LBC, Chumhori Sangtam were the highlights of the launching programme.
