Livingstone Foundation International College (LFIC) introduced the National Service Scheme (NSS) on Tuesday through state NSS officer, NSS Cell, department of Youth Resources and Sports, Zeneikho-o Pfukha.
A press release from the college informed that during his visit, Zeneikho-o informed the students what NSS was, its objectives, aims and benefits.
He said NSS in India began in 1969 and was sponsored by the centre, conducted by department of Youth Affairs and Sports.
The NSS officer informed that scheme was a voluntary program where young people from colleges, universities and also +2 level worked towards creating a campus-community linkage.
The aim behind the programme is to provide help to everyone, enhance and bring a better change in the standard of living and the way they lead their life with dignity, he stated.
He encouraged the students to take NSS as it helped students develop leadership skills and gain knowledge about different people from different walks of life.
The programme was attended by all the students.
