Lineman electrocuted in Dimapur

In a tragic incident, a power department assistant lineman, on routine maintenance duty, was electrocuted and badly burnt after coming in contact with high power line at Bank Colony here on Thursday morning.
Eyewitnesses alleged that the deceased, a local male, remained unattended for more than hour hanging on from the electrical pole.
DCP (Crime) Khekali Y Sema informed that the incident occurred around 10:20 am and the deceased (around 46 years) was a resident of Thilixu village. A resident said the lineman was working without any safety equipment and that the incident could have been avoided if there was proper coordination among the department personnel.
Executive engineer Dimapur electrical division Y Akito Sema, who also rushed to the spot, assured that the department would be investigating the matter.
